big easy baby

September 28th, 2007

Just to clarify, student teaching is not the big easy. However, its really not so bad. My students talk a ton.. like as in all the time and I often want to kill them — but if that’s the worst of my problems that’s not horrible.

Classes at state are almost finished, and I’m so thankful for that. I’ve been subbing for katie and going to class and working part time and dealing with beckett and I’m going to lose my mind if this keeps up.

Beck is first going to the vet to get looked at, and then (hopefully) going on the market. It’s a long story. I really like him, he’s a great horse… but he’s too small/frail for me. He wants to be a kid’s hunter, so he’ll be going on to a good home… and I’ll be back on the horse prowl again.

But for now, here are some pictures from New Orleans. I went two weeks ago for Tim’s mom’s birthday, and it was a blast as always!

a note about student teaching.

It is a logical question, isn’t it?

So if you’re going to do web design, why student teach at all?

Well, I guess I’m a wuss. My options are to quit student teaching, lose a semester, and get a general English or creative Writing degree instead of an English education degree. That’d be fine if everything goes hunky dory with my web design pending job offer, but it might not. And if I don’t want to do web design permanently or the company goes under or something, I’d have no back-up plan. There’s not a huge job offer for southern american free-verse poets these days.

Also, I’ve taken so many education classes that it’s pretty much too late to turn back now. If I quit student teaching, I will have literally wasted a semester + of classes that were PAINFUL to sit through… and I’m just not willing to do that.

I like my classes at the high school. As always, the college education classes are bullshit and I hate them… but what else can one do but suffer on?

Go trot trot

August 28th, 2007

Beck is finally sound after a month+ lay-off due a mystery hind injury and a front abcess. Keep your fingers crossed that this will keep up. He was doing well with jen in training before he went lame, and right now we’re just doing some trotting until she gets back from her vet rotation this weekend. I want to take him to some winter shows this year, but have to see how my money situation is going. Pics on the flickr account from last night are up.

Started student teaching yesterday, and these early mornings are already taking a toll on me. I have class 4 days a week until October 4th, but I have to work around 20 hours a week too so I’m gettng up early before class and going into the office… that’s where I am now. Only no one is here and I’m all by myself… and tired. Sigh.

Yay Sewing

August 26th, 2007

I was feeling crafty tonight, and decided to make some cute baby pads for Beckett since they’re around $25 a pop for the ones I like and I thought they couldn’t be all that hard to make.

Turns out they weren’t.

Tomorrow is my first day of student teaching… eep! Not excited about getting up that early, not at all.

DC Weekend

August 17th, 2007

Me and Tim went to DC this past weekend to go to the museums and zoo and such. He left for Berlin from DC (got a cheap flight to europe outta there), so hence the reason for our visit. Besides driving around up there (hate it), we had a lot of fun.

Here are some of my fav pics!
